The Care to Share program raises hundreds of thousands of dollars every year to help those who need help to pay their utility bill. Since its inception, the Care to Share program has raised $25.4 million to help approximately 97,000 families.
Through the company's Dollars for Doers program, which awards grants in recognition of employee volunteer time, more than $190,000 in grants were distributed to nonprofit organizations in 2019.
Launched in 2016, FPL's Power to Save programs offers assistance to customers through energy retrofits administered by FPL in selected neighborhoods. Qualifying customers who sign up for the program receive a free FPL energy survey of their home, tips on how to save energy and money, and services and program savings of up to $500.
In 2019, NextEra Energy employees raised more than $4.4 million for the United Way and other nonprofit organizations to continue positively impacting their communities.
Thanks to a $40,000 Gulf Power Foundation Amplify! grant awarded to the Florida Wildlife Federation, landowners who live east of Panama City, received much-needed help to deal with the devastation. The grant is earmarked for restoration of timberland destroyed by Hurricane Michael in 2018.
